Jim Cooper on defeat against Folkestone.

7 Mar 2010

"We are all very disappointed with yesterday's result. We looked a very tired team at times which was perfectly understandable.

We've had 4 hard games in 8 days and to try and defeat the league leaders in the 4th was a tall ask.

Having said that we had our chances and controlled large parts of the game. Our cutting edge just wasn't there and we paid the price.

I can see exactly why Folkestone are top. They are well organised and defend very well. They took their chance when it came and made it difficult for us from that point. It's another 1-0 win for Folkestone which tells you how professional they are. After their difficulties this season it's a fantastic achievement and I wish them all the very best in the future.

Taking nothing away from us, we have come to the end of a brilliant run. The boys have been magnificent but I'm asking for much of the same from now on.

We have signed John Cartledge on a months loan from Sutton United. I felt we needed another centre back and how right I was. Our Captain Steve Sutherland pulled out during the warm up and John was thrown in a little earlier than expected. He did well for us yesterday.

We now travel to Horsham YMCA on Thursday. It's another difficult game. They are a good side who have had some very good results. We need to get back on track!

The lads are in good spirits and confident we can put another run together. I'm happy with the squad and we all share their confidence".
